Has anybody joined CeramicArtsDaily.org yet? What do you think? I
expect to have time tonight to look in and see what's happening so I
may be able to answer my own question.

The hosts are Ceramic Monthly's (ACerS) Sherman Hall, Ginger Pullen
and Bill Jones (of PMI etc
fame). Their ad is in the July/August issue of Pottery Making
Illustrated where you'll find their Bright&Shining faces following
page 12 ....
looks appealing. AND I am intrigued by the concept of
"hosts" .........

I definitely am checking out their offer of "33 Tried and True Glaze Recipes"
for joining...... as if I need them with Britt's book, Ron and John's, Mel's,
Vince's, Val Cushing's, and Clayart archives........ but can't have too many
recipes!

Joyce
In the Mojave Desert of California where wild fires rage just north
of us, highways
are closed, and it's thundering to the south... gotta love
Californians. My theory
is that we're so capable of adapting to all that and much more because we all
had our backbones honed elsewhere, with each of us bringing our own strengths
(and, yes, eccentricities) to the table..............

Dear Joyce,

Had a look. Found an article by Tony Clennell in the Glazing Techniques. =
Could not resist a comment.

Best regards,

Ivor

I joined, have been getting the e-newsletter for a couple of weeks.

I see it as another source of information, some good, some seeming rather
silly to me, much I'm already aware of.

But even if the information seems irrelevant to what I do, it helps to kick
start the thinking/conceptualizing process that will lead me to who knows
where.

All the "free" stuff is collected from old CM & PMI articles, but it's nice
to have it together in one place.

I have been a member about a week. Yes! a whole week.:)
the emails are interesting, but it is just like clayart, delete if
you dont want to read.
The adds around the body of the email are quickly overlooked, see 'em
once and that is enough.
I have found all interesting and quick to read.
The jury is still out as to long term membership

the glazes I have not really looked at yet,
but I did download.

regards
lo

Looks like a good resource. I joined and elected the glaze book,
(what a stunner of a cover!) but if you go further into the site,
there are two other choices--I'm assuming these are alternate choices
and that all the books are not offered at once; only the choice of
one per subscription. These are download-able books, by the way.

I think they're ahead of the game here; that much more of our
interaction in the future will be through electronic networking and
we're only seeing the tip of the iceberg now. CLAYART is/was a
pioneer in the establishment of a professional/social network. After
all, artists are the ultimate cultural hunter/gatherers. We are
sensitive to influences of our time; many times much more so than the
general public. We are usually at the front of the wave.

From all I read about marketing from sources not just in this
country, but in Europe as well, social and commercial networking will
become even more active on the web than it is now. With
accessibility becoming more portable through hand-helds and future
devices we only have an inkling about, we will become connected in
many new ways.

It makes a whole lot more sense to have your own web page these days
than it did 10 years ago. I know I do a lot of my shopping and almost
all of my correspondence electronically. For the past 6 months I've
been blogging and reading blogs pretty heavily and although there's a
lot of stuff out there I'm not interested in, on the other hand
there's a heck of a lot more information and contact with people
available that I wouldn't have ever, ever found. I read a very wide
range of current stuff and learn many new things every day.

It has now made sense to me to begin working on my own webpage and
use it as a marketing tool as well as other resources. I've gotten my
toes wet selling to a niche market through eBay and it has been
surprisingly successful.

It's not a matter of Either/Or. It's AND. The electronic connection
is just another enhancement and opportunity.

I also joined this group and in downloading the book ran into the =
problem of
noticing it was using a LOT of ink because of the beautiful photos on =
each
page. However, the white text of the glaze recipe sunk into the black =
and
was hardly readable. So I stopped the printing. Perhaps a different =
paper
would react better, but this just was not worth the ink used. =20

Outside of that am looking to see what the value is in that group. I =
will
keep in touch with it to see where it goes. =20
