The has been quite a year for this member of the
Travelling Fire Brigade. Utah, Italy and now I"m
joining John Neely, 2 other grad students and 6
undergrads from USU to study at the Jingdezhen Ceramic
Institute in China from Sept 7 to Dec 15. This is
part of my Masters program and an opportunity of a
life time. John is developing a sister program of the
one offered by West Virgina U. For those of us that
know John he will make the program very comprehensive.
When old Vince went on about how an Mfa program could
be life changing who would have thought it could be
all that it has been for me.
I feel very priviledged to be part of the USU
Travelling Fire Bridgade. this is an amazing group of
high energy students. Not a slug in the pack.
It is little wonder that USU is one of the top ceramic
schools in the country. This China program only makes
USU more desirable for would be applicants.
Vince we need to talk at Nceca. I owe ya a drink for
putting a spark under my butt. It truly has been
amazing. Oh yeah, I luv the pots of your sabbatical
replacement- George McCauley.
Sheila and I are still a bit numb about this new
opportunity. John is a man of many surprises. I will
be making like a wild man to leave work for our
showroom and the fall wine tours.
Off to the Gardiner Museum of Ceramic Art tonight to
attend the opening of one of my favourite Sheridan
students solo show- Jordan MacDonald. Sadly I had to
cancel my job at Sheridan to go to China. I will miss
the gaffers.
Cheers,
tony
