randy's red - incognito iron blue??

A little while back I asked for recipes for Randy's Red. Got some
interesting and variant recipes. I ultimately settled on one, and mixed
the glaze. When weighing out my chemicals, I discovered I was short a
bright iron oxide, so I subbed crocus martis. I then gave it a go. Fired
it to cone 6, very slow cool, and when I opened the kiln, I had a bowl
whose glaze I can only describe as Blue-Gray Iron. It was a pretty and
interesting color. I was running late for a show, grabbed the bowl, and
took it with me. It sold first shot out of the box. Unhappily, I didn't
even get a picture..

Now I am wondering, has anyone else worked with and acheived a Blue-Gray
Iron colored glaze using something like Randy's Red?? I was surprised
with this, and would like to know more.

Thanks,

Hey, John:

How about posting the recipe you used. I'd like to try it.

Also, what's "bright iron oxide?" Never heard of this one. Could it be
Spanish RIO (brighter raw color)?
