nceca hotels/pittsburgh

there is a very good chance that we will be working
with the nceca board and director to join forces for hotels
in pittsburgh.

they are working now on having the hotel find an excellent venue for
clayart, get a great rate for clayarters and do the leg work
and get the hotel off my credit card.

i will let you all know as soon as we have things
ironed out. the level of cooperation on both sides is very good.
the respect for clayart is very evident. and, as i have said for years...
`we are all nceca, one way or the other.`
i am pleased.

this year in louisville, clayart accounted for 975 rented nightly rooms
at the galt house..
and, i am guessing that clayarters rented many small hotels and motel rooms.
i am thinking our nightly room rental was certainly at 1100.

Given that there was about 4500 attendees this year at nceca (or so I'd heard)... I'd guesstimate that Clayart makes up anywhere from at least one quarter to one fifth of the total amount of nceca attendees to their conferences recently... quite substantial I think. (I think the usual attendance was down this year, I believe in recent conferences it's been around 6000 or so) It's about time nceca starts recognizing Clayart for what it is in our clay community... long overdue IMHO. This is great news for Clayart... getting the respect it deserves... but better yet... seeing the "winds of change" within the nceca organization... promising indeed!
