major c. 6 glaze problem

Stab in the dark.

I have not only experienced hazing from chrome onto tin containing glazes,
but quite definitely from copper containing glazes onto everything nearby.
Including the shelves.

On the one hand it seems to be a characteristic of SOME glaze[s] on the
other hand I have no idea why 2% let us say of copper carb should "haze" in
one glaze and not another.

What seems to me a possibility is that there now is enough haze on your kiln
walls (and shelves) to just haze away at anything nearby, if there is little
air circulation.

Also some ingredient in your copper glaze may have changed (this was
discussed before) so that it hazes more.

I know this is not very helpful. My suggestions are: rewash the kiln
shelves. Also just try a different green glaze. I expect that if you post
the one you are using someone among us will have a slightly different
version to offer and for you to try.

Good luck

hi
thank you for the info. i have been wondering the
same thing. when i replaced the motor on my vent, i
did realize that it did become pretty weak. and that
maybe for a while the fumes were building up. the
problem did seem to get a tab bit better after kiln
washing the shelves. but I didn't do every bit. I
will do that too now. is there any way, that if i
fire the kiln empty at a higher temp, maybe i can
remove some of it, if it is the problem??? curious!
Thank you so much!
