Hay folks,

The Optio 60 got stuck open after a year and a half constant use. I think
it must have gotten dirty inside so I decided to get the new Pentax Optio
W30 that is supposed to be waterproof and I need something with a lot of
seals because I work in clay and like to carry a camera wherever I go
justin case I get a good non-clay shot. Haven't done an underwater test
yet (or made any pots) but found a setting I didn't know existed called
"interval" and it will take a shot every so often as I tell it to make a
series of stills or in a movie...

Some data got lost in processing QuickTime to Windows Movie Maker so some
frames loose the color along the bottom but it has 2 1/2 hours kiln work
crammed into about a minute. Using the video took a bit to figure out
what focus setting to use to keep it from auto-focus and motor noise but
the microphone picks up far sound pretty good. I don't know all of how it
works yet but here is a bit on deer in the yard...

I bet ya wonder how stills look too, ah? All I did was just started
reading the 208 page manual and shooting from Auto mode on into the 22
some odd other modes and the settings available. It is a lot like getting
set up to throw again after a while or trying a different clay. Ya just
start and make toward a hundred pots to keep for tests. That takes about
150 tries to get a hundred pieces to study but after 500 one starts to
find a direction and the skill to get there. So here are the hundred
shots in one spot for study and any comments on what a camera with a lens
the size of a farthing will do would be interesting. It sure beats
lugging around one of those DSLR's with a half dozen dollar sized lenses,
although down the road I think I might get the K10D for special uses. I
will acknowledge the W30 is a bit slow out to the shot in some settings
but it is a matter of patience...

I don't recall posting the winter album with the search for Cedar and the
last Optio 60 shot and during the time I was non-digital my picture
taking addiction still had to be feed so I shot some film to end the
winter album..

album with...

Just for S&G's I started exploring what I could do with the exposure
settings and did a slide with the highlights through a wall of some sort
that changed everything. I just might start having so much fun with the
colors I could forget about clay (ya right)...

Hope you find it as entertaining as I trying to learn something new. Stay
in there ah!
