I have been using my Skutt 818P for at least 10 years. It sounds like
yours is basically the same as mine. I do fire porcelain in it. I
haven't gone higher than Cone 7. I happen to have an electronic copy of
their manual. I would be glad to forward that to you via email if you
like. When we moved a few years ago, I misplaced my manual and they
provided me with this one. The Skutt people have been very helpful when
I have called with a question or a problem.
Let me know if you want it forwarded.

Subject: Skutt 818 question

Anyone out there have a Skutt 818? I was just given one by a friend who
is
leaving the biz. it looks in excellent shape and am excited to have
this
little shorty in my studio.

Although I have already been to the skutt web site, I can't find much
info
on the older models. this one has a manual controller and a kiln
sitter.

I know how to work it, but I am interested in any experiences - good,
bad,
weird, inconsistent, fantastic - that anyone may have had with this
kiln.
Is it OK for glaze firings (I go to ^7), or should I use it only for
small
bisque runs and glaze tests? I have always wanted (and now need) a test
kiln, so I'm a little giddy.

feeling like a kid with a new toy......Lo
