can you offer ideas for setting up a coop?

Hi Clayarters,
We are a group pursuing the establishment of a coop and would like
ideas for guidelines, mission statements, or other information anyone
might care to offer us. Or perhaps you know where we might find the info.
Anything you can offer will be greatly appreciated. You can answer off-
line at the above email address. And many thanks in advance. Fran Schwartz

Fran,

You can try the machine sorted categories at potters.org or go
straight to co-ops using this link:

http://www.potters.org/category078.htm

You can also do your own searching from the lists archives here:

http://lsv.ceramics.org/scripts/wa.exe?S1=clayart

I did a quick "starting a coop" subject line search and found this:

http://lsv.ceramics.org/scripts/wa.exe?S2=clayart&L=CLAYART&q=&s=starting+a+coop&f=&a=&b=

Do other searches for more info. This was discussed extensively on
list not too long ago (2005-2006) and you should find some great info.

I'm sending this to the list and you directly just so I can have the
most posts for this month.

i would start with a patch of ground, then add, posts, wire or netting, siding, roofing , tin is ok, a nice source of water, some squarish boxes about i foot square which you can fill with clean straw, then when all that is assembled, you are all ready to put in the chickens.

Congratulations, Mr. Taylor in Rockport!

You are the winner of the most posts to clayart for this month from
an Elvis impersonator.

But I'm afraid you'll have to get up pretty early in the morning to
beat out some of our regular, high-volume, non-Elvis correspondents
who will out-post you ten-to-one on their slow days.

But thanks for taking your turn in the "Why don't you check the
archives?" pool. It's cold and lonely in here, but you've warmed it
up significantly with your uhhh... enthusiasm. (I bet you thought I
was gonna accuse you of doing in the pool what you do in your clay!)

Sincerely,
"Maurizio T. Butthead"

Thanks, Taylor,
I appreciate your info. I had already searched the archives as a good clayarter, but there was nothing there that fit our situation.I was hoping someone would share something more relevant to us, which they did. Thanks again, Fran
