Does anyone have instructions for making inexpensive armatures and/ or suggestions for using
stoneware with armatures?

Thank you,
Felicity

Hi Felicity, I don't know what you plan to make using an armature,
but there was an article in Ceramics Monthly years ago about cutting
out fiberglass cloth and using it for an armature. The potter had
cut out the general shape of a person, left extra at the top of the
head and hung it from something, I can't remember what. Then he
started at the bottom and formed his figure around the fiberglass,
which was left in during the firing.
I don't know if this will help you, but fiberglass is one idea for a
low cost armature.

Best, Lou

I just ran the DVD on Roseanne Gault's methods using paper clay. In it =
she
built her armatures from her paper clay and when dry, with the magic of =
that
particular clay, she added and filled out the sculpture with wet paper =
clay.
