wedging board

Years ago I had used plaster poured into a wooden frame with a covering of
canvas. When it came to moving to another location, I found this 2 x 4
foot solid table just too heavy to transport and decided to scrap the
plaster. Not wanting to go through the plaster mixing again I hammered a
piece of 5/8 inch particle board to the top of my table and have had great
success with this simple wedging board. When it appears to be wearing out
(after many years of use), I just turn it over and used the other side. No
more fussing with stretching canvas and dealing with disintegrating
plaster. The particle board absorbs moisture and is easy to wash off when
changing clays.
