dear fellow clayarters,

after having my website online for just about 2 years, (without any serious
responses from potential buyers) i have stumbled upon a successful
advertising ploy that i'd like to share with you all...

i ascertained a copy of InternetPhone...this is a program that allows users
to connect with virtually anyone in the world via their pc's and talk to
them over a microphone and hear their voices thru their speakers for FREE !
recent editions now offer video for those who would like to actually see
the person to whom they are communicating...well...........i became
friendly with a person on iphone that would dial me up at non specific
times of the day..so, i decided to just leave my nick/handle online,
showing on the user list that i was logged in, BUT, i had my do not
disturb on, so as not to be contacted by anyone that just wanted to chit
chat...(too many other obligations to have time to play) there is an area
where you can enter personal information about yourself or whatever you
choose to write...i decided to place my url in that area...what occurred
was, that lots, and i mean hundreds of people would try and call me to no
avail...that exasperated them, to be able to see that i was there, yet
unavailable...and this surely led to curiosity...so, wouldn't you know it,
i started receiving about 3 emails a day about my website ! i wrote a pat,
generic response, that i could just cut and paste to anyone that wrote me,
as they usually just wrote me one liners complimenting me on my page (so i
did not feel so bad about using the response over and over) and told me
that they were unable to contact me via iphone...

well, last week, my little experiment paid off in a big way...a buyer
contacted me via email and i did my normal cut and paste response...he
again wrote back to say how interested he was in my work...

we have since advanced to the normal telephone mode and are making
arrangements for him to fly to miami and pick up two of his three
favorites (as i have a hard time relinquishing my design work) at a very
hefty price ! he is also going to give me an affidavit that states that if
i want to, i can purchase back my own work...have any of you ever heard of
this ? i understand they do this with racehorses, but pots ? sheesh !

i am now off to sears to have more of my works photographed...this idea
came to me about 8 years ago, as all i ever had were slides of my work for
shows, and i wanted a nice looking portfolio that i could present to people
in person that could be carried wherever i wandered...its proven quite
handy...most of the photos on my page were taken at sears...they are
extremely inexpensive and you even get wallet size !!!!!!!!! photographers
are always quite amused when i bring in my urns and vessels and say, "my
kids are very well behaved, all you do is pose them once and they hold
still!" u can choose from assorted backgrounds, but the one color,
classier looking ones are costly...so, out of each batch of 6 pots or so, i
purchase one non generic background...sometimes, they are soo excited
about what they are doing, they toss in extra prints at no charge !

hope you all will consider the iphone ploy and also take advantage of the
sears photo package for your pots...ahem, "children"
