Does anyone have a reliable waxy white cone 6-8 oxidation glaze that is
good on white stoneware? Either a plain white or something with some
nice flecks in it will be appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

I got this one from the Clayart database.

Waxy White ^6-10 oxidation
41 Custer Feldspar
20 Flint
15 Talc
12 Gerstley Borate
7 Dolomite
5 EPK

I fire this to cone 7. It is a plain waxy white. This glaze will turn
purple if cobalt is added because of the magnesium from the dolomite and
talc. I like the purple I get with 1% cobalt carbonate.

Hi Pam,

Here's one that was posted a few years ago. I tried it at cone 7 on
porcelain and liked it. Think it would do well on stoneware too.

Waxy White ^6

Custer feldspar 41 (or Kingman)
Silica 20
Talc 15
Gerstley Borate 15
Dolomite 7
EPK 5

This was from Sumi Dick, with the following comments: "A nice, fat, matte
very white. Due to the magnesium in the talc, this glaze has that peculiar
property of turning cobalt purple." And it does, too, a very nice purple.
:)

Hope this helps.

Unfortunately it crazes over my stoneware but EVERYTHING crazes over my
stoneware. Happily, it crazes a lot less than most of the stuff I've tried.

This is a ^6 waxy white
Custer Feldspar 86
Gerstley Borate 31.40
Flint 24.20
Whiting 24.
Talc. 17.2
EPK 17.2
I use it in reduction but I have had some luck with it in oxidation too.
