venco wheel

A good friend of mine just purchased her first wheel (Jyoti of "belly-bowl"
fame) and is absolutely BEAMING! It's a Venco #3 made in Australia (of all
places) and was a pretty good deal (for Belgium) at about $600.

I asked her if she was sure that she'd bought a wheel cause I thought they
only made pug mills. ;-) (she frowned and showed me a picture)

Anybody know anything about this wheel? She did a LOT of research and this
seemed to be the best priced one available.

Russel (JEALOUS!)

Russel,
Yes, Venco do make wheels, and they're very popular here in Australia (of
all places, indeed!) They must be pretty durable machines, as they stand up
to use in colleges, and a lot of people swear by them.

Personally, I have to say I prefer my Shimpo, bought years ago before the
Yen went sky-high. These days, Venco's are certainly more reasonably priced.
Hope your friend enjoys hers.

Hi Russell,

I have got two Venco wheels, and a Tallisman (from New Zealand) I bought
both of the Venco wheels second-hand and they are just wonderful. There
doesn't seem to be much that can go wrong with them.

The first one I got about 7 years ago and I am about to have it serviced for
the first time soon. I think it was about 4 or 5 years old when I got it.
The other one I bought last month for $275 Aus. This one was 14 years old
and works just like a new one.
I would recommend them to any one. Infact they are much more reliable than
the Venco Pugmills. The pugmill I use at the local Pottery Club is forever
breaking down.

Lorraine (in Sunny Perth where it might rain one day).

Venco started out making wheels and has diversified over the years. I have
4 of these wheels all with 1/2 hp motors, one of which is now 21 years old.
I have never had to do anything to them. I did put a new wheelhead and
drive wheel on the oldest becuase the wheel head was slightly smaller than
the other three and we had a griffin grip that I didn't want to have to
readjust every time I used it on the oldest wheel. The drive wheel was in
perfect condition and still sits in my spare parts cupboard.

I have a shimpo and two leach kick wheels which I would give up before my
old Venco.

Venco are about the standard wheel in colleges here also.

Like my Venco pugmill the wheels are built to last and to work well. The
pedals are spring loaded which is a blessing for production throwing but
they can be bought with a control arm. Venco also make electronic wheels
but I have no experience of them.

The usual disclaimer is I have no connection with venco. They are a very
good company that builds good equipment, give help and information freely
and have a good reputation for service.

From downunder where the politicians are taking on the gun lobby and
banning all automatic and semi automatic weapons. Wonders will never cease.

Gail, Lorraine, Leonard

Praise from BOTH coasts!!

She'll be happy to know that. I don't think she's been off it since she got
it. She tells me her mother's coming by tomorrow to watch her son so she can
throw some more!

<<

The shimpos run about 40.000 Bf ($1300!!!) here. Now I'm even more tempted to
buy a venco for myself.

Russel (Gail, saw your web page, beautiful work. The black background is very
effective) (Leonard, Good with the gun ban!!)
