Hi All,
I'm about to pull out and clean the screens on my Venco, and had read about
peoples' solutions for replacing the gaskets, which will shred. I read that
regular electrical tape doesn't make a good seal, but couldn't find the
heavier tape for underground applications someone else used. My hardware
store suggested this stuff in a tube called 2 Form a Gasket made by Permatex.
It's pliable and non hardening. Can anyone think of a reason I shouldn't
use this stuff?
TIA

Jennifer I was the one who said regular elec tape doesent work. I found at
an electrical supply store a elec tape that is thick , soft and somwhat
sticky on both sides i understand it is used for underground applications. I
cleaned touroghly the place where the tape goes and stuck it on with out
streching it and it worked like a charm.
I wouldnt suggest the stuf in a tube because it might get in your clay and
it will be hard to remove. the underground stuff is what you want.
I also porpusfully let onse side of the tape extend into the barrell a
little 1/16" or less so it would mark the pug as it came out so I could see
which end is up to avoid S cracks it works nicly..
Erik
Ps let me know if you need any other help or if you dont understand my
explaination. sometimes I ramble

Jennifer,

It might save a lot of anguish if you buy yourself a thin (1/16") sheet
of rubber gasket material and cut a few gaskets for use whenever needed.
You can use natural gum rubber, BUNA N rubber or Neoprene rubber to make
a good gasket. These materials can be bought at most automotive supply
houses.
