ups, rps, fedex, etc- at the roads end

We had an incoming shipment yesterday- RPS- we live at the roads end, with
1650 ft of driveway from the mailbox to the house, through the woods. The
driver notified us that future stuff would be dropped off at the mailbox.
It seems that the smallest truck they use is HUMONGOUS, and has trouble
brushing the trees.

FedEx, on the other hand, tends to get lost in the country. You need a
street address, a sign, and flares to lead them in.

We still have some things expected, and dont know how they were shipped.--
nothing perishable, thank goodness.

I hope this is over soon.

Bill, lost in the boonies, on Persimmon Hill . (But Happy he is there/here)

>Yeah,
And Fed-Ex is real good about leaving things at the end of the driveway
even without trees and even with snow falling etc.

The UPS strike is just wreaking havoc all over isn't it! I have called
my senators and representative and asked them to put pressure on
President Clinton to intervene. (Your local newspaper should have the
phone numbers of your congress people if you would like to do the same)
I also searched the web and found e-mail addresses for the President,
Vice President and First Lady. They are:
president@whitehouse.gov
vice.president@whitehouse.gov
first.lady@whitehouse.gov
I recommend that anyone who is annoyed by the strike should write or call
to convey your views to Washington. Every correspondence represents
about 1000 people.

For all of you who are so appreciative of UPS service please know why: It
is the hard work of the Teamster loaders and drivers who are resposnsible.
I do not exaggerate when I say that an hourly UPS employee is expected to
do what, in most American workplaces, would easily take two people to do.
This is why they are so angry. It ain't the money. Please support these
people!!!!! Ken
