triple beam has retired

I just received my reconditioned electronic scale from Dharma Trading Co.
and I like it! The instruction sheet doesn't say so, unless I was reading
too fast, but it does hold a tare so that you can weigh several ingredients
individually without having to start the tare each time. The triple beam
went into storage but I did keep my little jewelers scale that weighs to
100 mg. I also receive my 80 dollar hvlp sprayer from Whitney. It looks
pretty good, I'll get the hose tomorrow and see how it sprays.

Linda:
What did you pay for this scale and where can I get one. Tell me more about
it; i.e. it's capacity, it's ease of operation, AC or battery operated? I'm
interested in anything that can make the job of weighing glaze batches
easier. Currently, our triple beam has a capacity of 600gm, Oh maybe more
with bigger weights and a bigger tray but the 600gm capacity is about all
that's practical. I'd really like to know more.
Thanks

Dear Bob:

My triple beam scale can take two additional 500 grams weights added to it.
If yours is an Ohaus it probably can as well. That would up your capacity
quite a bit. I also have a very large triple beam that I bought used from
Pacific???. You can find them on the web and they have current lists of used
pottery equipment. I think I paid about $100-$150 for my very large scale.

A few years ago I checked out some of those digitals scales and they were
around a thousand dollars. The one I looked ino very accurate, but pricey. I
do a lot of glaze testing and would love to have one of these scales.

I'm eager to read the reply to your question. Maybe there is a cheaper and
just as accurate alternative out there. If so, I want one in my Christmas
stocking!

Regards,
June

Hi,

I bought the scale from Dharma Trading Co. Earlier I posted their phone
number, it's an 800 and is probably with the 800 directory. I don't have
the book here, it's in the studio. It is both battery and ac. It is easy
to use and cost 69. It was reconditioned, weighs to one gram and goes to 5
pounds.

I bought some weights, 500 gram and 100 gram, which hand on little hooks
at end of the beam, and then enable me to get up to 2100 at one
shot..think I bought them from Axner but am not sure..check your
catalogues...maybe Bailey... Elca

Linda
I just checked your previous post about the scale. I didn't find a phone
number except yours. The $69 sounds great. If you could post it, there are
at least two of us that would appreciate it. Hope you'll respnod.

Elca, Universities,colleges,schools...all sorts of institutions, have
tons of outdated equipment. Usually, they cannot sell this but may make an
extended loan at no cost. Example: Merck Laboratory at Harvard U. has an
attic filled with balances from the days when ores were weighed by the
pound instead of grams. There must be at least 4000lbs of brass
languishing in the darkness. Don(secret agent for recycle!)On Fri, 18 Oct
