Returning from a 2 week tour of the Baltic States, including Russia, we bring
with us the following invitation:

Dear colleagues,

We invite you to participate in a creative seminar of ceramists from around
the world.

This is not a cultural event in the usual meaning of the word, but rather an
exchange of experience and practices. We have sucessfullly held such a
gathering twice, with a group of American ceramists in 1993 and with German
artists in 1995. As a result, we have decided to make such seminars a
regular event.

We suggest spending three weeks in the company of other ceramists with living
in our apartments and working in our studios. The finale will be a joint
exhibition of our works in one of St. Petersburg's galleries.

At the same time you will receive an introduction to the theatres, museums,
suburbs and cultural life of the city.

Unfortunately, we do not as of yet have a sponsor for the seminar, so the
expenses must be paid by the participants. If you are able to find a
personal or group sponsor, we can send you an official confirmation from the
Union of Artists of St. Petersburg. In any event we will work to keep your
expences to a minimum. For the 1995 seminar one month's stay will cost the
participants approximately $500.00

The seminar will take place from 9th ot 30th of June, 1997. Please let us
know of your interest by 30th of January, 1997. In order to send you an
official invitation we need the following information: full name, date and
place of birth, citizenship and address.

Conditions for work:

We have available for your use electric and gas kilns/raku kiln.
Unfortunately we do not have experience in making our own glazes. We may
offer only ready-made glazes/approximately 30 kinds of various colours. We
expect that objects created during the seminar will not exceed 25-30 cm.

We hope that our seminar will be interesting and useful for all.
