We are a new potters' guild - first birthday coming up this September 21st -
and we purchased a spray booth about 6 months ago. The things that were and
are important us: that it be all one piece (makes for very easy cleaning,
which turns out to be extremely important with 25 different potters using it
regularly); that it have a good ventilation fan; that the filters be easy to
replace; and that it be large enough to accomodate most - even large
ones-pots; and that it of course be affordable. We selected the Sugar Creek
SB1 from the Axner catalogue at $205. The inside dimensions are
27.75"hx20"wx17"deep. If I could do it all over again, I would have chosen
the next model up 30"hx40"wx20"deep to accomodate some of the larger work I
have been doing. All of the other criteria have been met - it's a breeze to
clean, the fan works great, the filter is a standard furnace filter from
Home Depot. After the health and safety studies we have been doing lately,
we would highly recommend against building your own. Now that we know what
we want to do with the rest of our lives, we are trying to stay as healthy
as we can for as long as we can.

Hope this helps.

I'm curious, do you simply vent it outside? Is this acceptable from a health
and safety standpoint? If so, we are contemplating a similiar arrangement at
our studio.
