I just remembered that I wanted to speak to the case where boiling the clay
after soaking did not result in any additional absorption. I found this to
be true and dropped the flux from my clay and in the two samples I made,
the samples fell within the ratio given in the Cushing handbook. I realize
I should make a several more samples and get an average. Then I will try
this new formula with my glazes to test fit. My shrinkage went from about
12% to 8%. Significant?!
