One of my students is interested in taking a Ceramics course in Italy
this summer. Something that is between 5-8 weeks in duration and has a
travel component (Rome...Florence..) as part of the study. We are aware
of the Univ. of Georgia program in Cortona but want to inquire about
other programs that include clay out there and that may include travel
to some of the traditional Italian ceramic centers like Gubbio and
Deruta. Anybody have any information? She needs to be able to receive
college credit to transfer into our school.

Thanks in advance

In response to query about study abroad opportunities in ceramics, Ron
Fondaw who teaches ceramics at Washington University in St. Louis is
organizing a trip to Italy to study ceramics and to travel. The program is
about five weeks and is based in Gubbio.Gubbio is known for its ceramic
tradition especially for its majolica. There will also be trips to Orvieto
and Urbino. which were also important centers for majolica. There will
there will also be trips to Florence and Rome. Call Ron at 314 935 8408.

My clay course is in Spain and has credit available thru continuing ed.
We'll be using the traditional pottery town of Agost as our home base
and will visit Gaudi's work in Barcelona and the tiles in the Alhambra
as well as a tile factory in Granada.
