Most of the pots I buy are wood or salt-fired -- simple in concept but
infinitely rich in texture and nuance. However, I will long regret not buying a
Steven Hill platter I saw recently. The interior was glazed with a wonderful
deep blue matt that had all sorts of interesting overtones. In the plate he had
artfully placed three tangerines. A still life waiting to happen! If Steve
can do blue, who am I to argue? (Seventy-five degrees today in Baltimore --
FINALLY!!!)
