Just thought I'd add another point of view on buying from the "lowest
bidder". I bought a Skutt 1027 a couple years ago and considered the above
suppliers or my local supplier (Mile Hi Ceramics in Denver). After
factoring in shipping, the price difference wasn't that substantial. Mile
Hi delivered my kiln at a time convenient to me, and the driver came in and
made sure I had it set up correctly, and that everything was in working
order, before he left. They were also kind enough to tell me when they
were running a "sale" on the kiln I wanted, which saved me quite a bit. If
I had had any trouble (which I didn't), I could have called them to come
fix it, since it was warranteed. I also have a predisposition to buy
locally whenever possible. What if Mile Hi were not there, and I had to
have everything shipped! Think of the shipping expense and the loss of my
good relationship to my local supplier!

I totally agree that the automatic kiln is worth any price difference. The
ability to program the kiln to start in the middle of the night, or any
other convenient time for me, is a real plus. Although I am always home
when I fire my kiln, I do feel comfort that it will turn itself off when
finished. Many other reasons I like it, but will stop for now.
