Hi Jonathan K....

Appreciated your views on shows. One interesting "big time" show that others
might look at is the Uptown in Minneapolis.
-clear judging criteria "impact and originality"
-published jury
-open screening with published schedule by medium
-scores returned with slides

While I might not agree with the judging criteria, at least it is clear and
it is how they judge. The open jurying is educational to attend and you do
NOT have to enter to go. Anyone in the are of Minneapolis on Saturday April
13 should think about going. Regal Minneapolis Hotel, 1313 Nicollet. Clay
starts promptly at 8 am.

The gripe I have is that last year three of the projectors had zoom lenses,
one had a regular lens (1/2 the image size). And projector bulbs were
varying degrees of burned out, giving dramatic differences in light value.
And then, if a projector jammed (they used 140 slide trays-an ABSOLUTE no-no
for professional projection), an artists work might never all get up on
screen at the same time. One jeweler sitting next to us got caught in this
one and was legitimately irate.

All in all, probably better run than most, and getting a score back at least
gives you something for your $20.

I didn't know this was going on at the same time as the ACC in St. Paul.
Lots of competition?
