My friend Faith is looking to develop a crackle glaze for cone 8 stoneware,
oxidation firing. Yes, she knows that crackle glazes occur because of the
relationship between the clay body and the glaze. She also knows she'll
need a glaze with a high coefficient of expansion to create the crackle
effect. She would like to know if anyone on this list has a high fire
crackle recipe they would be willing to share with her. She's hoping to use
this as a starting point for exploration and testing. Thanks in advance.

A traditional crackle recipe for cone 9-10 is:

85 Cornwall Stone
15 Whiting

Apply on the thickish side.

She can try this and also try another test substituting a soda feldspar like
Kona F4 or Nepheline Syenite, for the Cornwall stone ,if the glaze as given,
is immature at cone 8. She can then do a wet mix of equal parts of each test
which would then give a third test which would approximate a recipe of:

44.5 Cornwall Stone
44.5 Soda Feldspar
15.0 Whiting

June
