salt kiln ques?

Does anyone know if it is possible to use soft bricks in a kiln, and do
wood and or salt firings in it?? (soft insulating fire bricks)

We use soft brick in our salt kilnEXCEPT for the bottom ten rows..Its a
minnesota
flat top...Oh yes, hard brick around porthole also....Elca Branman

Babcock and Wilcox did make a K23high alumina insulating firebrick. I used
them in the upper part of my wood kiln. You may want to call them and see if
they still manufacture them or ask your local clay supplier to contact them.
Last time I tried to buy bricks directly from them I was told that they were
no longer selling to individuals but that was a few years ago.
