I have my work on the net with Artscape. http://www.artscape.com...as do
others in my studio. I made a sale to someone I never met in Long Island,
New York. I wouldn't consider this a significant way to make a living, and
the exchange demanded a considerable amount of trust on both of our parts,
but the transaction was very satisfying.

Layna... I totally agree with you the 1ST ANNUAL CLAYARTERS' GALLERY is not
a significant way to earn a living especially since each participant is
sending only a few pieces of their work to represent them, and it does
require a lot of work, trust, and confidence on both sides. However, the
primary benefit that the participants gain is the advertising potential of
the event. This comes in several forms ...one being that the potters' work
is displayed so that customers visiting the exhibit can easily determine
who made the piece(s) and how to contact the potter/artist directly. The
other form of advertising comes from media exposure, ie.. the editor of
CERAMICS MONTHLY has agreed to place the event in the Calendar Column and
has likewise agreed do a follow-up article on the exhibit. So hopefully
this upcoming event will be a lot of fun and a source of satisfaction for
all involved... ...Best Wishes....Marshall

Dear Lanya and Marshall,
I think what is cool about the 1st Annual Clayarters show is the
diversity and various geographic origins of the participants. I have
noticed that graphic artists and potters are the two most prevalent
mediums of artists on the net. My theory is that we, clay people,
are technically dependent/involved to produce ceramics and internet is
just another level of technology to deal with.
-any opinions on that one?
