repairing cracked bisque ware??

Someone with not a lot of clay experience has been renting space in my
studio. He made a slab piece which was formed over a shallow bowl. When it
was a little too dry to work with he cut out a portion of it. Then he added
a piece, but didn't let it dry slowly. Needless to say, there are two cracks
which showed up when it was bisque fired. One is stress-induced where he cut
into the clay, the other whre the two pieces were joined together.
Is there any hope for this piece? Can any of these cracks be mended before
or during a glaze fire?
