A posting was made about an upcoming workshop that I am doing at El Camino
College in the LA area. The dates were given as March 23-24. Oops! That was
incorrect!! I will be there April 20-21. Hope to see some of you there.

Steve Branfman will be giving a raku workshop on Long Island, NY this
month on the 21st and 22nd. The hours are from 10:00-4:00 both days and
the cost is $150. There are only a few openings still available.

2-day hands-on Raku Workshop by George Sacco Saturday June 13th & Saturday
June 20th noon- 4 p.m.. Plum Creek School of Pottery, 1220 Mogadore Rd.,

ago. $130 for workshop including all materials and firing. OBservers welcome
$10 fee for 2 day workshop.
This two-day workshop provides an overview of the raku process, from the
making of clay objects to the firing of the finished pieces. Participants
will learn about and experiment with glazing, decorating, kiln building,
firing and post-firing reduction. Participants will gain a basic
understanding of techniques required to continue this process on their own or
to pursue further instructions. This workship is appropriate for all levels
of skill in ceramics.

MARIO QUILLES, at A.I.R. Studioworks in Santa Fe, NM, will be offering a
Handbuilding/Glazing/ Raku Firing Workshop in December, as well as a RAKU
KILN BUILDING WORKSHOP. These two overlap, and you can do both at the same
time,(for four days, Dec 5-8), do it without building the kiln, or come for
just two days and build a kiln. The kiln is a 24"x26" Fiber Raku Kiln.

RAKU WORKSHOP
At the Gallery at the End of the World in Altadena.
June 13th & 20th (two Saturdays) 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM
This workshop is open to all levels of expertise, geared toward
persons with some previous clay experience. The first Saturday begins
with basic handforming techniques and an overview of the Raku
process. After some introduction, it will be hands-on clay the rest
of the day. Your work will be bisqued and ready for you the following
Saturday when we will glaze and fire it in the Raku kiln. This class
is limited to 6 participants.
FEES: The tuition of $140 includes instruction by clay artist Dave
Lovejoy, use of tools, clay and glazes, bisque and raku firing,
refreshments, and lots of fun for both days. A non-refundable fee of
$25 is required to hold your place; the remainder is due the morning
of the first workshop. The classes are filled on a first come, first
served basis.
General Information: The classes begin at 10 a.m. each day. The first
class is over at 5 p.m. The second class is over when the firings are
completed, usually around 3 or 4 p.m. Lunch is on your own or bring
your own, refreshments are included. The classes are open to people
18 and over. Be ready to work hard and have fun. Those with kiln
access feel free to bring a small bisqued pot to glaze and fire.
Workshop is held at 2475 N. Lake Ave. in Altadena.
