Hi Dan and All,

This is also a constant dilemma for me. The rythm of production work
seems to be by its nature resistant to intrusion of creative force. Now
don't get me in trouble here folks but this does seem to be true for me.
The two just don't mix well. I think it's like play and work, you can't
just say now I'm going to be playful for afew minutes, with the list of
orders in front of you, the phone ringing, and a dentist appointment at
four oclock with a board of mugs to finish the handles on before you go.

Maybe it's like dreams. The more attention you give them the more they
happen. I'd say that's a good guess. So that would indicate that when
the urge comes up it would be helpful to give it some kind of
encouragement.

For myself I have been thinking about raku as a way to be more playful,
as the process would of necessity free me from the precision
underglazing that has become my stock-in-trade. I think a shift in gears
helps to clear the decks and allow creative juice to surge.

Anyway just afew thoughts before I get to work....how playfully can you
load a kiln?.....
