Wilton, NH- River Bend Pottery and John Baymore will once
again host the annual "Earth, Water, and Fire" wood firing
workshop first offered in 1981. The intense 9 1/2 day
program begins Friday evening August 8, 1997 and runs through
Sunday afternoon, August 17, 1997. Enrollment is limited to
only seven participants, who will produce and wood fire over
450 pieces in the four chamber climbing kiln (noborigama)
during the program. Cost for the workshop is $375.00, which
includes most materials.

Aesthetic issues, kiln design and construction, historical
sources, and wood firing all will be incorporated into the
formal and informal sessions. Slides from John's recent trip
to Japan as the recipeint of the Judge's Special Prize in the
First Mashiko Ceramics Competition will be included.
The program culminates in a 26-27 hour firing with different
chambers fired for varying effects.

Historically, this workshop enrolls quickly and registrations
are taken on a first come / first served basis; a waiting list
is established for possible cancellations. For more
information or a brochure and registration form, call
either 1-800-900-1110 or (603) 654-2752.
