Hi Sandy,

I buy my wet clay from Rovin Ceramics in Taylor Michigan. In their catalog
they have a clay called RO-99G Ultra White Porcelain with grog. The clay
contains 4% fine Molochite to improve the handling characteristics and
better control shrinkage. I have not used this clay myself, but since it's
porcelain and contains grog I thought the information might be useful to
you. Rovin also sells molochite in 30mesh and 120 mesh. In case you or
anyone else is interested in trying this clay or the moloochite the number
for Rovin ceramics is (313) 374-0010.

I hope this helps,

I have a text in the studio that defines grog as fired and ground
porcelain.

Tadzu - with a thawed-out studio once again.

After WW2 Most of the electreical porceline insulaters were
changed.Apparently to take the increased power requirements. In Saga
City,(Kyshu, we noticed a very large pile of white powder at one of the
clay factories. Our good friend, Rikio Hashimoto,of Meguritsu-Ariake,
explaine that this was where all of the old insulaters ended-up. Rikio
also uses this fine grog in his clay body which is composed of hill clay
and paddy clay and which we used quite successfully. Don & IsaoOn Tue, 24
