Hi This is ClayMaven in Virginia just getting started leaving
messages......
I've been using Pinnell base for two years with no blistering what so
ever....
for me it's been a good reliable glaze. However, I did adjust the recipe
by adding
3% more Lithium for a grand total of 4% Lithium in glaze. The original CM
article
suggested this. It also said to try 8% more Strontium instead of more
lithium.....
Seems to me you could play around with this. More lithium should smooth
things
out I would think........Another thought is that the glaze may be too
thick......
Ive noticed that my batches were kind of thin...... In my notes the
adjusted batch
with the 4% Lithium had 4160 grams of glaze to 4250 ml water. I'm using
Standard #112 clay . It is buff with a manganese speckel. I think the
clay is an important factor......would love to know if this helps at
all!!!
