Hi!
My name is Rikki Gill of Berkeley Ca, and I've been lurking with great
interest for a few months and I finally have a problem to do with a clear
glaze over Aspen porcelain oxidation fired to cone 5-6. My friend Carol has
used this glaze for 20 years, and it works over all other porcelain clays
and painted underglaze decoration. For handling and throwing reasons she
wants to continue using this clay. She bisques Aspen to cone 3 in a
vented kiln. Dust is not an issue. Soaking the glaze does not help.In
her test kiln to cone 5 or 6 there are no pin holes. The recommended
Laguna clear glazes Ms29 and SG157 while producing a smooth glaze contain
zinc and magnesium frit which ruins the underglaze colors. Laguna glaze
F16 produces good coler and bad pin holing. The people at Laguna provide
no answers. Question! Does anyone have any glaze or firing suggestions.
