Hi

I will be in Philadephia on july 22 & 23 for collage tours with my
daughter. In my very limited free time, I would like to see some of the
pottery scene there. Any suggestions ?

TIA

the way.

Millie,

Try to visit Willi Singleton, Pine Creek Pottery, RD2 Box 210, Kempton, PA
19529, (215) 756-6387. He does wood fire, his work is beautiful, and he does
it all using only local materials.

Jaine in Cresskill, NJ, where we had an outdoor steambath today.

We visited Willi Singleton several years ago and he is *certainly*
worth visiting. He apprenticed in Japan for a number of years and uses an
anagama kiln for his lovely work.
By the way, Hawk Mountain is about an hour away by car. It has a
raptor museum and is a wonderful place to observe hawks and other raptors
in season.

Hi, There is quite a bit of clay in Philadelphia. The Clay Studio on 2nd
St. has working studios and different shows during the year. In the
suburbs I am particularly familiar with the Potters Guild at the Community
Art Center in Wallingford, PA. This is a working group. The work of many
of this group can be seen at The Studio in Swarthmore, PA which is a
Gallery displaying American craft and art. I happen to be one of the
owners and would be happy to talk with any visiting potters about the
group. During the Rosen show at the end of July the Mayor has declared
Philad. Craft Week. There is a brochure put out by the Rosen Group and
listing many of the galleries in the area. ...... Marge Bowler

Hi, Everyone.

I'll be leaving Friday for a weekend in Philadelphia. Does anyone have
any recommendations on places to go, things to see? I plan on stopping
by the Clay Art Center and probably the art museum. I was in Philly for
NCECA '92 and I remember we ate well while we were there although I
don't recall the names of any of the restaurants. I'm also into fabric
art and quilting so if anyone knows of fabric shops where I can empty my
wallet let me know . You may want to e-mail directly so I will get
the information in time. I know at least one person on the list is from
there.

Thanks so much, Alice Chittenden

Hi all,

Am visiting my sister here in Philly and wondering if anyone is available for
a studio visit? She lives in the Newtown Square area. We're going to do a
little sight seeing next week. Please answer me personally so as not to clog
up the list. Have been off the list for over a month, I have missed you guys.
Thanks.
