I am interested in getting a peach bloom glaze. (Did you see the peach
bloom glazed pieces in this month's Ceramics Monthly?!) Anyway, I am not
interested in your secret glazes which took you 20 years to produce
(although I won't refuse them if you insist on sharing), just any old
peach bloom type of glaze ;].

Thanks, Sam in Hawaii

Dear Sam in Hawaii,
Place a porcelian piece glazed with your favorite ^10 chun base copper red
where it won't go above a ^9 - ^8.5 is even better. Didn't work for me
unless it was on porcelian - but on porcelian - it was peach bloom every
time. Obviously every kiln is different but at the time I was working with
a 36 cu ft sprung arch downdraft - got peach bloom on the bottom back.

Sam, I know that it has taken me awhile to answer you, but I hope
that this helps:
Peach Bloom:
Cone9-10

godfrey feldspar 301.7
colemanite 41.2
whiting 45.0

copper ox. (.03% of batch) 1.16
tin ox. (1.0% of batch) 3.87

I have never tested this glaze, but I hope that it works for you. Let me
know how it turns out. You can e-mail me directly at jr@wolf.sulross.edu
