Hello Everyone,

For those who wanted oxidation glaze formulas for Oribe....well in Japan
all Oribe is fired in Oxidation. At least so I was told by potters from
Tokyo National University of Fine Arts and Music. This was further
reinforced in talking to other potters in Japan.

Also we were taught to dip the pieces in a somewhat dilute HCl
(Hydrocloric Acid) solution for 30 seconds or so to remove the metal that
was on the surface. This removed the metalic "scum" on the surface.

Dear Rick:

On one of my trips to Japan, one of the Oribe potters told me that they use
barium in their glaze to get rid of the scumming problem

Regards,
