Hi,
Make sure to stop at the Bray in Helena Montana if you get a chance. 2915
Country Club
(406) 443-3502. Also Frank Fabens in Seattle has a nice slipcasting
business. He makes dinnerware.
Enjoy your trip

Jonathan: Robin Hopper and Judi Dyelle have a studio and garden in the
suburbs of Victoria, B.C. 'Chosin Pottery, 4283 Metchosin Road, Victoria,
B.C., V9C 3Z4. Telephone: (250) 474-2676. We took the excellent bus system
and reached it in an hour and a quarter. They have a spacious showroom and
a beautiful garden. It's as near to heaven as I've seen. Robin was very
gracious and provided very helpful advice.

Other observations / opinions:
- take the high speed Clipper to Victoria (get tickets in advance);
- we really loved Victoria; don't miss Butchart Gardens; tea at the Empress
is way, way overpriced; we got a better rate of exchange using Visa rather
than cash
- in Seattle, the Seattle Art Museum is worth a visit, we liked Elliott's
restaurant very much, did not like Ivar's; be sure to visit Mt. Rainier and
stay at Paradise Lodge, truly awesome, still snow in late July
- in summary our week and a half in Seattle/Victoria was the best vacation
we've had! Have a great time!

Hey Northwest tripper -

Going to Victoria is more fun from Port Angeles on the Olympic Peninsula if
you're driving. Port Townsend is arty and worth a visit. You can return
from Victoria to Vancouver and drive down. There's an anagama in Nanaimo
on Vancouver Is.

In Seattle: Seattle Asian Art Museum is good for pots. And stop by KOBO
gallery nearby on Capitol Hill. Contemp NW pots are @ Northwest Craft
Center in Seattle Center (Space Needle). Similar in Portland, OR @
Contemporary Crafts Gallery. Also a local retail coop called Firestone (?)
Pottery in Tacoma next to Tacoma Dome.

Have fun, SEQ
