neck brace

I was interested to see that Pat also thought it might be a pinched nerve
as I wrote Debra yesterday that's what I thought. As a result of being
on crutches for 3 months (I broke my foot April 1 and it didn't heal
properly) I got a nerve pinch in my neck and by the time my chiropractor
sent me to the orthopedist my right arm had quit working.

I found that the neck brace that is sold in the drug store provided alot
of relief. It only costs afew bucks and would be an easy first step for
somebody to self-diagnose by just getting one and seeing if it helps any.
I still use the neck brace only when I sit at the computer, otherwise I
finally seem to be pretty much past it. For a long time I would have
these bizarre electrical events in my arm and I would have to just quit
whatever I was doing and let it do its thing.

The orthopedist would have given my a fancy expensive brace but he
thought if the drugstore one worked that was fine. For afew weeks I
slept with it on and that seemed bery helpful as well. (I ought to
point out that this is not all I did for it, I had a course of steroids
and was in traction for awhile each day.) Another helpful suggestion the
doctor made was to use tylenol and aspirin in combination for the pain
and that seemed to help an awful lot better than either alone and was
just as good as more serious painkillers.

I hope this is helpful.
