Andrew, I have used Tea Tree Oil for some other problems. Good stuff. Works.
And certainly won't hurt to try it on a topical application.

As far as Kombucha goes I suspect the acidic environment that results from
its application is what does in the fungus. And the mild acetic acid
probably helps dissolve away some of the detritus and dead tissue.

It is is an old principle in bacteriology. Change the ph and kill the bug.
