mixing small portions

Hi All!

I saw Vince Pitelka was pining for a tiny jiffy mixer, and I know that
I've seen than no longer than 12 inches or so. It was the cutest jiffy
mixer I had ever seen, even thought it was bent a little and made me
seasick watching it spin. I can't remember where it was, though. (That
probably means it was during grad school!)

If you want to mix small portions (a pint to a quart), though, I use one
of those hand-held Braun mixer-dealies. The super small, one-blade
thing. It whips the hell out of engobes and test glazes and it's also
really easy to clean. I have always had terrible luck with blenders
(killing them, I mean), and the hand-held mixer has turned out to be a
fantastic solution.

Erin.
