Hi Veronica,

I think the video you are referring to might be "Glorious Mud", part of a
series called Hand and Eye, by CBC. Robin Hopper is in it as well. Our
library has it and it cheers me up to watch it every once in awhile.

I am interested in buying a used copy of Michael Cardew's "Pioneer Pottery". I
am also interested in any historical/biographical work about his life and work.

thanks,

Hi there everybody,
Since everybody has been very helpful with all of my questions, I've got
another one.
I'm trying to find 'Pioneer Pottery' by Michael Cardew. Yes, yes, yes I
know it's
out of print, but I'm trying to find it.
So if your favorite used book store has a copy, or you some how have an
extra copy
you are willing to part with please let me know. I will be very very very
grateful. I don't care
about the condition, just as long it has all of the pages.
Thanks,

Steve:

There is a new company on the web called Alibris (www.alibris.com)
who specialize in out of print books. They may be able to help you. Good
luck, I hope you find a copy quickly. It took me 5 years to locate a copy of
"Pioneer Pottery" through more traditional methods.

I found a my copy of 'Pioneer Pottery" about a month ago through
http://www.abebooks.com/ on the internet. I just kept checking until they
had some - at the time I believe they had at least one other copy. I've also
searched the following other used booksellers on occasion:
http://www2.alibris.com/cgi-bin/texis/bookstore http://www.bibliofind.com/
http://www.outofprint.com/

Good luck - the book is awesome.

Hi Steve,

I have an extra copy of his book. I learned a very valuable lesson in
a throwing technique from his book many years ago. Does anyone know the
going price on such a book? I do not want to out of line on this so
would appreciate any comments. Thank you.

I am re reading his (Michael Cardews) biography - a truely remarkable man.
It is such a pleasure to hear a potter talk in such an open and honest way.

If you are somewhat fed up with all the posturing going on in our world of
clay you owe it to yourself to read this man.
