Hi,
I'm interested in learning about Majolica techniques, the type of base
glaze(s) that are used and the stains or glazes used in the decoration. Can
anyone suggest some good texts on the subject? Do you have a favorite
majolica base glaze for cone 5 - 6? I've recently switched to B-mix 5 and
need to find a good fitting glaze for it. Any information would be
appreciated.

Thanks

Leon I Nigrosh's: Low Fire Other Ways to Work In Clay is a good place
to start. Here some formulas that were used in a workshop I attended.

EPK 8.33
Plus:
Zircopax 11.11
Bentonite 2

glazed ware.

Mason Stain 50
Ferro 3124 100

There is a chapter in Tony Hansen's Magic of Fire that deals a bit
with Majolica. I had no interest in it until I read it; now I'm interested.
Maybe just because he made it sound so easy and I'm always a sucker for an
interesting new avenue. As I recall, he provides quite a bit of detail.

Get info on it at http:\\www.digitalfire.com.
