Clayarters :

Can anyone on the list recommend a good latex resist? I want to resist
on bisque and glazed surfaces. TIA.

Rafael,

The liquid glue that carpet-layers use works as a great resist,
controls well, on bisque. Peels off easily after glazing
without disturbing the glaze. But - it must be peeled off before
fireing, makes a mess if left on. It is sometimes hard to find,
but I have found it at Color Tile in the past. Lasts a long time,
(comes in quart and half-gallon) so haven't bought any for ages.
Sort of looks like yellow wood glue, smells awful, but works.
Have to wash brushes right away when finished. We used
to brush it on layers of cheesecloth, too, to make flexible molds
for sculpture. Haven't tried it over glaze (raw glaze? fired?).

Color Tile is out of business, kaput- bankrupt, even took employees
retirement funds down with them. N.Y. CARPET WORLD MIGHT HAVE IT POSSIBLY. I
did find some promising looking bisque tile thru them 2 years ago but never
fired them, but might be worth checking.
