Jay....a late reply, trying to get caught up. Richard Bresnahan at St.
John's University built and fired (last October) an 87 ft. long 3 chamber
anagama. It holds about 12,000 pieces and is set up so a fork lift could be
driven into it for firing large sculptural pieces. Quite an amazing monster.
3-4 days firing, 10-13 days cooling. Next firing is planned for April 97.
Incidentally, the Minneapolis Institute of Arts has a display of pieces from
the First Fire which runs until Sept 22. Very worthwhile IMHO.

Tom,I don't doubt the 87ft,but X the volume gives at least
2,175cubicft.My question is: How can anyone fire that enormous volume
3to4 days?? To what cone? 022? What was the volume of the firebox? Our
300cft
kiln required a minimum of 7 days to achieve Cone9 using spruce slab.>
