Ian,
I had similar results to the ones you described when using the ^6
ketchup glaze. I single-fired in an electric kiln and modified the glaze
slightly by replacing the kaolin with twice the amount of ball clay and
reducing the silica to compensate. I used Gerstley Borate and also added
2% Bentonite. On an iron bearing body the glaze did turn out to be a
red-brown with darker specks (not ketchup) but on an off-white body the
green patches were even larger than the red ones, to such an extent that I
thought I might have mistakenly used one of my 'mystery mix' glazes! So, I
repeat your request - any explanations?
