still bothered by what i do not know about this product. called whitehall
labs this a.m. waiting for a return call from a technician. this cream
must be applied to washed and dried skin, allowed to dry and then "set"
with cold water and then dried again. a second coat is then applied in the
same manner. they claim that during the next three or four hours the hands
may be washed as many times as necessary. three or four hours of
continuous exposure, contact with highly irritating substances or friction
demand reapplication.
this would suggest to me that vigorous finger scrubbing of the bottom of
the glaze bucket is prohibited but that general immersion and handling of
ware to be glazed in the dipping process etc. should be safe.
the ingerdients of this product are as follows:calcium carbonate, cetearyl
alcohol,ceterimonium bromide,cetyl alcohol,iron oxide.isopropyl
albohol,kaolin,methylparaben. mineral oil,paraffin,propylparaben,sodium
hexametaphosphate, sodium laurel sulfate, water, zinc oxide.
also will try to contact the original recommendation in ceramics monthly.
whitehall labs recommend use of the product whenever rubber gloves are
used. at the very least it would probably be great when washing windows!

Jason:
"...calcium carbonate ...iron oxide ...kaolin ...zinc oxide ..."
Reads like a glaze recipe.
