jomon book

Vince and all the others who asked about the Jomon book:
There were enough of you to reply to the list as a whole---so here is the
reference (sorry it took so long, but I have a very messy house, have a
hard time finding anything!):

Kenrick, Douglas M., Jomon of Japan: the world's oldest pottery.
London, New York: Kegan Paul, 1995.

This is not a big book, it's thin and average book size. This is the book
with the rope pattern pictures in the back.

Maybe someone out there can tell me about another book on Jomon that I
remember seeing some 15 years ago--it had few photographs, but
extrordinarily detailed drawings of 100's of jomon pots. This was a
large folio size book, more like a book on archeology than art. I don't
remember whether the book had only Jomon pots or whether it was a
history of japanese pots. Vince, your son might know of this book---

Enjoy--
Sandy in Maryland--finally through with work for the day.

You may want to look at J[onathan] Edward Kidder's __Prehistoric Japanese
Arts: Jomon Pottery__published by Kodansha in 1968. It is a beautifully
executed major study.

There is another very good book on Jomon Pottery entitled appropriately,
Jomon Pottery by JF Kidder.
