Yes Lyn, there is a Jeff Oestreich workshop---in Roswell, NM on February
8-9, 1997. The two day workshop will explore thrown and altered pitchers,
tea pots and cups. It will start with a slide show on Friday, Feb. 7,
1997, at 7:30pm. The workshop cost $50.00, and anyone interested should
contact Wanda Dent at (505) 623 9649, or write her at Rt. 3 2803 Woodbine
Way, Roswell, NM 88201.
There may still be a few openings in the four day hands-on workshop
that contines for two more days ( Feb. 8-11.1997) for a fee of $100.00.
You may contact the same person concerning either workshop.
Roswell,NM is located in the southeastern corner of NM, (that is
the state located between Texas and Arizona),and it is the UFO capital of
everywhere ;>. We had an unusual 6" snow a couple of weeks ago, but
presently it is approximately 70 degrees outside, with our usual sunshine.
I think the workshop will be great, and we welcome any of you who are
interested.
Lyn, you should have received an application by now. Please let
me know if that is not the case. Look forward to seeing some of you here
for the workshop. TIA Toni

I'm considering attending a workshop held by Santa Fe Clay with Jeff
Oestreich teaching. I met Jeff once in 1980 while he was still very under
the infulence of Warren Mc. and the Minnesota mindset Warren was the guru
of.

What I'm wondering is:
Have any of you attended a workshop by Jeff Oestriech recently?

How was it?

Have any of you attended a workshop hosted by Santa Fe Clay?

How are they?

I'm just trying to get some information before I dish out three bills for a
week at the feet of Jeff O. along with motel and meals for the week.

Let me know what you think (privatly please)

I do know that based on his work that is featured in Daphne Carnegie's book
Tin Glazed Earthenware, he is my favorite majolica painter. I loved his
layered methods and painterly work.

Hi Terri:

I don't specifically know about that titleof the workshop but I was
fortunate enough to be able to travel down to Oregon last year and take a
workshop from Jeff.

I would recommend it to anyone. I am still revelling in the feeling, the
inspiration and the ideas he left us with, not only in design and technique
but in philosophy and ease and calmness.

go, you won't regret it.

Metchosin International Summer School of the Arts
presents a Spring workshop with
JEFF OESTREICH
April 15 & 16, 2000
at Lester B.Pearson College of the Pacific,
Victoria, B.C. Canada
"The majority of my work is intended for daily use. Being a functional
potter allows me the opportunity to examine form, glaze, pattern and
surface as well as to experience the challenge of designing a pot which
feels comfortable to the hand." This 2-day workshop will investigate these
concerns.....Day One is devoted to the making of shapes on the wheel which
later will be altered by either faceting, stretching, darting or cutting
and rejoining. Day Two involves assembling of these forms, decoration, and
discussions on the surface achieved in a salt (soda) firing. The importance
of paying attention to detail in one's work will be constantly stressed.
