To those interested in Japanese ceramics-
An auction will take place this coming Friday and Saturday in Tokyo and
I will be attending on Friday. It's not the usual 'live' auction
but a type where bids are written on slips of paper and placed in
boxes which correspond with the lot number. Highest bidder wins.
Pieces which might be of interest:
Hamada Shoji- Coffee Cup and Saucer- no minimum bid, signed box.
Kawai Kanjiro- Shinsha Tea Bowl, 300,000yen starts, signed box.
Koie Ryoji- Black Tea Bowl, 50,000yen starts, signed box.
Shimaoka Tatsuzo- Three large Jomon Zogan plates, offered seperately
starting at 100,000yen, signed box.
Hamada Shoji- Two tokkuri(sake flasks), starting at 100,000yen, signed
box.
Mori Togaku- Bizen tokkuri, starting at 60,000yen, signed box.
Okabe Mineo- Oribe plate, starting at 100,000yen, no box.
Koyama Fujio- sake cup, starting at 80,000yen, signed box
These days a dollar is worth about 118yen.
Well, these are just a few of the lots offered. Just a bit of
trivia I thought I'd post to ya'all.
At the end of a national holiday- Respect for Senior Citizen's Day,
my humble regards,
Robert Yellin
