why would anyone use a claybody
that does not work? it's the clay for pete's
sake. clay is your life, use good clay.

i got some 's' cracks in 1978. using a fine
white clay, real fine, sorta like porcelain,
real fine, ick. made me shiver.
ish, was like baby poop.
made ishy pots too. real slick.
kids love that clay.

don't use clay that cracks, don't use
clay that handles fall off.

you need sand, fine grog, fire clay.
nothing goes wrong with a body
like that. wedge it in if you have to.
ask lori in s.c. she likes the old used
clay now, wedges in sand and fine grog.
throws better. mackenzie uses lots of
sand.

raise hell with a company that
makes crap clay. don't buy crap
clay. don't pay for crap clay.
that is silly.

i realize i fire to cone 11 and don't
have to worry about mid-range bodies,
but hell, you have to get what you want.

i have never had a handle fall off a pot
in 40 years...i can throw mugs, set them in
the sun for an hour, put on the handles, put them back
in the the sun....bisque fire them over nite...and that
is the truth. did that last summer on a rush order for 50
mugs. threw them at 7 a.m., put them into the kiln at 8 p.m.
did not lose one of them.
sorry folks, it's the clay... compress til your butts
fall off, but if you have a bad body...cracks.
put them under plastic for a week, set them
on sheetrock, paper, trim backwards....all good
things to do, but bad clay that cracks will crack.
mr. science.
